Garageband recording problem

I am using GarageBand on my MacBook Pro to record mandolin tracks.

I have the count in and the metronome turned off. The mandolin recording sound is good but with each note I pick, or tremolo, there is also an annoying click sound that the pick is making when I am playing.

I would appreciate any suggestions how I could set GarageBand up so that this clicking sound is not heard on the recording.

Sounds like the mic is picking up very high transients of the pick hitting the strings. Since mandolins have double strings it is probably the pick striking the second string, maybe. Compression and Equalization may help tame those transients. On compression you'll want a slower attack time to de-emphasize the click of the pick. On equalization you may need to cut a high frequency notch in the EQ curve.
