Every HMD (Head Mounted Display) I have used can get damaged by the sun and this includes the PSVR both versions. I would do my best to keep the lens away from direct sunlight as it may cause burn marks on your screen and I am not sure that AppleCare will cover that. Just keep a cloth on the lens when not in use or pickup a screen cover from 3rd party vendors like vrcover.com.
