If you have a device running a later version of iOS that supports the YouTube app, download it on there. Then, go onto your device running iOS 12, go to your purchased apps list and find YouTube (should be at the top). Press the icon next to the app that looks like a cloud with a downwards arrow (not GET) and it should prompt you to download an older version of YouTube. Hopefully you should be good to go, as the YouTube app should still work on iOS 12.

the youtube app seem to require ios14 to work

YouTube: Watch, Listen, Stream on the App Store (apple.com)

it's up to the app developer what requirements their app has so you can try to contact google

How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

or you can try how well the youtube works using the webbrowser or if safari does not play nice with it then you can try other web browsers in app store and see if they work better

The tags appended to your iPad suggest that you have an iPad mini3 with iOS12 installed. The first generation iPad Air, iPad mini2 and mini3 can only be updated to iOS 12.5.7. The current version of the YouTube App requires iOS/iPadOS 14 or later.

Apple ended major update support for these models of iPad in September 2019 - although they continue to receive occasional “point” security updates, the most recent being released January 2023. These devices cannot be updated to iPadOS 13 (or any later major versions of iPadOS) as the internal hardware does not meet the minimum technical requirements (CPU capabilities and available RAM) for newer versions of iOS/iPadOS.

Some App developers have dropped support for iOS versions preceding iOS 13.x for technical reasons (often because APIs or software libraries upon which they rely have been updated in the new version of iPadOS, making their App incompatible with earlier versions).

For security, Financial Institutions often require that customers use computers that are both using a current/supported version of the computer's host Operating System - and secure version of web browser software. If your iPad (or other computer) cannot meet the required minimum requirements, you have no alternative than to replace the computer with a device and OS that does meet the required minima. For iPad, if need to access to Apps requiring the most recent versions of iOS, you’ll need to consider replacement of your iPad with a newer or current model that supports iPadOS16/17.

For information, here is a list of the highest version of iOS supported by the older models of iPad (for simplicity - “generations” are shortened to a number) that are restricted in their ability to be updated:

32-bit devices (obsolete)

iPad1 - iOS 5.1.1

iPad2, iPad3 and iPad mini1 - iOS 9.3.5 (WiFi Only models), iOS 9.3.6 (WiFi & Cellular)

iPad4 - iOS 10.3.3 (WiFi Only), iOS 10.3.4 (WiFi & Cellular)

64-bit devices

iPad Air1*, iPad mini2 and iPad mini3* - iOS 12.5.7

iPad Air2, iPad mini4 - iPadOS 15.8.2

iPad5, iPad Pro (9.7"/12.9" first generation) - iPadOS 16.7.6

(*) obsolete

Newer models are all able to be updated to the current version - iPadOS 17.4

  • iPad Pro 12.9" (2nd generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 11" (1st generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 10.5"
  • iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad (6th generation and later)
  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)

Correct. The available YouTube App for ipad requires iPadOS15 or later.

Whilst many App titles remain compatible with your iPad, if you want or need to access to Apps requiring a more recent version of iOS than your iPad is capable, you’ll need to replace your iPad with a newer or current model that supports a more recent version of iPadOS. Be mindful that the current version is iPadOS 17.5.1

Developers choose which iOS versions they want to support. If they choose to not support the version you have on your device, then it will be up to you to update the software or upgrade your iPhone if it is not able to be updated to the iOS version that the developer requires for their app.

Google requires that you have iOS version 15 or later in order for you to download their YouTube app, so in your case you will need a newer phone.

Hi I'm Razu My Problem My iOS 12.5.7 did not support YouTube and I would like to download the previous version Please Solved Please Please

You have it backwards. YouTube does not support iOS 12.5.7. Google has made that decision and they are the only ones that could make their app compatible if they chose to do that. Apple does not tell developers which iOS versions they must support. The only way you could download a previous version is if you had downloaded that version before.
