Why am I unable to log in to Hulu on my Apple TV?

I just signed up for Hulu on my Apple IPad. Using a debit card not Apple Pay. When I go on my TV under the app, it’s not allowing me to log in. Same email address and correct password. Any suggestions. Thank you. I am new to this Community site.

I hope this helps someone. I was able to fix this for my Hulu app on my Apple TV. The experience I was having was that I could use my password to log into the Hulu app on my iPhone and on the Hulu.com website. But when I tried to log in with that same password for the Hulu app on my Apple TV, it kept failing saying I had the wrong password. It’s weird because I was even using my iPhone to enter the password into the Hulu app on my my Apple TV, using the Paste function.

I recall having a similar issue months ago, when trying to log into the Disney+ app and it would log me out of Hulu. I’m not sure if you have the My Disney Experience (MDE) app (for visiting Disney World or Disneyland) but I do. So I tried to log onto the MDE app using the same password. And it failed. If you don’t have that app, maybe try to log into Disney.com. I was able to get into the MDE app to log me in via a one-time passcode since I didn’t know my password to MDE. Once in with the one-time passcode, I was able to go into my account on MDE and change the password. I changed it to the same password I still had in my iPhone clipboard, the password that worked consistently in the Hulu iPhone app and the Hulu.com website. Once that password change was done, I went back to the Hulu app on the Apple TV and once again used my iPhone to paste that same password into the password box in the Apple TV Hulu app and it logged me in.

Yes it is. If Hulu won’t accept your password then something is wrong at their end. Try changing your password with Hulu like the previous user which solved their issue.

So the solution detailed here worked, but what it says about Disney is unconscionable. Simply put, Disney developers made it impossible to use Hulu on an Apple TV 4K device without first installing their "My Disney Experience" App. I tried every possible permutation of password changes, one time passcodes, etc., with only the same results described here. Namely, I could gain access to Hulu on any device except my Apple TV 4K. Once I downloaded and went through the setup of the My Disney Experience app on my iPhone then, voila!, Hulu accepted the new password that I had created when creating a login to that app. What this says is that I had to give Disney more personal information in a new app that will be used to market to me in order to use the Hulu service. I have no plans to visit a Disney park, but if I ever do then the app is there. FRUSTRATING!

I called Apple Support and they told me I had to speak to Hulu. I don’t know how Hulu will fix the issue since I can login in on my MacBook, iPhone, fire stick, and smart TVs. The only place I can’t log in to Hulu is on my Apple TV device, which is connected to non-smart TV. It keeps saying it’s the incorrect log in when I know both the email and password are correct.


I guess I will have to return to using the Hulu app on my iPhone and then casting it onto my tv through Apple TV.

I want to say I was having the same

issue and it has been driving me bonkers for the longest time. I tried this but I went to my.disney site and found that information there was from when my wife and I first got married. That was over 20 years ago. I updated the password to what I’ve been using on my other devices and worked like a charm logging into my Apple TV. Thank you for the solution. It would be nice if Disney kept their stuff synced together.

After spending 3 hours dealing with 2 different Hulu help desk personnel, reentering passwords, rebooting hardware and software, updating hardware and software, and finally being told “there’s a problem with running Hulu on an Apple TV but our engineers are working on it now - it’ll be fixed soon!” - which, judging from the YEARS of posts about this issue, is not at all the case - simply changing my password through Hulu.com (which linked automatically to My Disney) instantly fixed the problem. Thanks for your post!

I can confirm that logging into my.disney.com from a web browser and doing a forgot password fixes the problem. I first changed password on hulu.com, and that changed the password required to log into my.disney.com, but it didn't fix the apple tv. Doing the forgot password on my.disney.com is what fixed the apple tv.

I just signed up for Hulu after a 2-year hiatus. Never had any problems during 2020-2023 but now, every time I try and login to my Hulu app on Apple TV I can't get passed entering my email to continue. I get a "JSON error" and cannot continue to add my password. I understand this is some type of Javascript error but don't understand it. Was on the phone with Hulu for over 2 hours unplugging my modem, TV, Apple TV, updating the Apple TV, resetting passwords on myDisney, and nothing works. As all of you, I can log into Hulu on my iPhone, iPad, and laptop with the same credentials. It's definitely not a Hulu problem if I can login to all other devices. Please HELP.
