Garage Band is not recording my MIDI Piano sustain pedal

Hi,

I have connected my MIDI piano to Garageband and everything is working well except the sustain pedal.

The sustain pedal (pressing and releasing) are not recorded.. only the notes. How is this possible?

I have found that by editing the region, there is a section where I can enable controller and choose from a list

Volume; Pan; Modulation; Sustain etc.. but Sustain pedal is not on this list. The Sustain option is just an echo of the notes being played and is not the same as a sustain pedal.

I have looked everywhere online for a solution and many people seem to be facing the same issue for years now. Please help!
