Apple TV + Home App

I recently bought an Eve Cam and Eve Lightswitch at the Apple Store. I’ve successfully connected both devices to the Apple Home app by scanning the QR code on each device, and by using my Apple TV as a hub.

One advantage of using smart devices with Apple TV and the Home App is that neither the smart device (nor the manufacturer of the device) has access to my WiFi password. Is this corrrect?
