Hi I have found my iCloud has a lot of missing files and photos that were uploaded a while back.
The folder structure seems to be there but they are empty.
it all types of files from excel, word, photos and scanned files.
I have not deleted them as have plenty of storage in the cloud still. I have checked other devices and called Apple support who said was tough luck and I should back up to hard drive.

maybe you can try following fixes:
#1 Re-log into your iCloud account
#2 Check recents/hidden folders in iCloud apps or iCloud Drive
#3 Check recently deleted folder in the app or drive
#4 Free up space on your device
#5 Change photos library location
#6 Update iOS

Apple support is rubbish. Changes are made and mid - competent users are bewildered by the changes. I take a photo on the iPhone, save it and go to show it to the subject and they have disappeared!! They don’t ever come back either? Yes iCloud is turned on but I also have plenty of available storage on my phone too so where are they?
Any photos that you take are in the Photos app on your device, and synced to iCloud if enabled. If you do not see the photo, it does not exist.
