Restoring iPod Touch (4th Gen)

I've recently rediscovered my old iPod, as it didn't turn on (even after being charged for multiple hours), I plugged it into my Mac, and clicked the restore button that appeared. It said that it was previously in DFU mode and that it needed to return to DFU mode in order to be restored, meanwhile the screen was just showing a USB symbol with an arrow to the iTunes logo. Does anyone know what this means and how I could restore my iPod?
