alias folder names on desktop links show thru active window by mouse pointer

While trying to work within any application, various desktop alias folder names pop up on the screen near my mouse pointer. Besides being distracting, it makes it difficult to type an entry into a field because the fantom link covers the entry field. It's not bleed through because the alias folder isn't directly behind the fantom pop up. I'm on a Mac Studio with Sonoma 14.5. The image included occurred while searching for this problem in this web site. The pop up ("cox mail conversions")is an alias folder on the far right of my Home Screen.
