reading external text with iPad?
I am not totally blind but my vision is pretty bad. I would like to point my iPad camera at words, for example, a book page, and have it read aloud. (a paper book).
Bixby vision supposedly does it. I tried it on my Samsung android phone and it is absolutely infuriating. However, the concept of what it is supposed to do is probably what I need.
it reads what I point it at.
Problems:
- It is on an android phone, not my iPad.
- It doesn’t let me choose what and when to read. I have to trigger it and hope it is pointed at the right thing when it finally recognizes some text.
- It never gets the reading order correct.
- It does things I didn’t tell it to do and doesn’t ask.
What options are available for iPad?
Are there built in solutions?
I already use Speak Screen, Speak Selection and Speak on Touch for reading anything on the iPad. I need to be able to read with the camera, if possible.
using the camera text recognition, selecting the text and tapping read is a slow and clunky multi-step process that works for very short bits of text in a very few situations.
