Can no longer type with Voice Over turned on on MacOS

Hi,

I am currently using Voice Over to improve the accessibility of a product I am working on. At some point while using it, I noticed that when Voice Over is turned on I could no longer type, whether it be in chrome, or in a notepad. When I type `n` Voice Over says `Landmark not found`, when I type `L` it says `Link not found`. I am not pressing any modifier keys. It looks like somehow I entered into a special navigation mode without realizing it, or somehow the shortcuts changed. I would like to be able to type while using Voice Over and was wondering if you could help
