The Books app keeps crashing every time I try to highlight something on my iPad

I'm a student, and I downloaded few books in my iPad for my upcoming finals. Whenever I try to highlight a sentence/word, it kicks me out of the app within seconds. I deleted the app, restarted my iPad, deleted my data but nothing worked. I have the latest software (17.5.1) and I have a total of 20 GB space in my iPad.

Please help me out
