Is there a way to recover Clips projects that went missing?

I was filming 2 movies with kids I was babysitting and when we went to film the next scene, apple clips had deleted all of my projects and all of the clips from our film in progress. Does anyone know how to recover these or at least know a way to ensure that this doesn’t happen again?
