ipad pro 10.5 inch battery being drained by homekit even though im not using it

exactly what the title says. i don't use the home app from my ipad, i've set the ipad to not let any apps use data in the background and home STILL uses more battery than any other app and causes the battery to drain extremely fast. i see other users experiencing this but no solution anywhere. any information is appreciated!
