Headings not showing in navigation pane in Word for Mac

Each of my chapter headings in my document have Heading 1 as their style. There are three chapter headings that do not show up in the navigation pane. The heading is listed as level one. There is a hard return after each of them. I cannot figure it out. Any suggestions what the problem might be.
