saving iCloud movies to external HD

I want to back up my movies on iCloud off of my iPhone. I don't want them on the phone because they take too much space and I am essentially full on my iCloud. All I want to do is save them on an external hard drive. Is there anyway to get into iCloud and dig them out and save them on a hard drive? Thank you!

Again, what movies? Are these commercial movies? Like from big studios? Or are these "videos" you shot with the iPhone camera?

Where on your iPhone are these movies exactly? In what app do you access these movies in your iPhone specifically?

As I said, movies you buy from iTunes are not kept in iCloud. They also cannot be extracted from the iPhone. You can delete downloaded iTunes movies from the TV App on the iPhone, and download them to your Mac if you really want to from the TV App on the Mac.

If by movies you mean personal "videos" you shot with the iPhone, they would be in iCloud only if you use the iCloud Photo Library. In that case, those movies would be accessible on your Mac through the Photos App or even by logging in to https://icloud.com through a web browser and accessing the Photos App there.

Alternatively if they are in the Photos app you can transfer them to an external drive connected to the iPhone.

If they are someplace else on the iPhone, then you need to explain where they are kept on the iPhone.

Sorry, your question is a bit confusing.

If you uploaded movies to iCloud yourself, then you should know where they are, and can copy them onto an external drive by holding your finger on the file in the Files App, selecting the “Move” option, navigating to the external drive and then tapping on the “Move” text at the top right corner of the screen.

If you are referring to movies you bought from the iTunes Store, then those aren’t kept in iCloud directly, and as such use no space from your iCloud storage.

Hi! Sorry. I'll explain with more detail.

I have iCloud storage. My phone uses it to back up pix and video.

I would like to remove the movies and keep them on a HD.

They take up 40Gb

Is it possible to get into iCloud (from my MacBook) and see the individual movies and drag and drop them onto a HD? Then erase them off the iPhone?

Maybe it would be better just to ask how I can get them off my phone onto a hard drive. 40 gigs is a lot of stuff and I have to dump it. But I don't wanna get rid of the movies! Feel free to explain as if I'm a fifth grader. I don't mind at all.

Thanks!!!
