Pretty much as stated in the title, I am no longer able to open PDFs in the books app because the option no longer appears in the Share menu not even if I go to the More section and Edit.
Possibly attached to that is the fact that the default option is now to open them in forScore.

I believe you are onto something: the last installed app that can operate on an element (PDF, for instance) can replace the ones that used to open said element.
I'm not sure how to get around this besides deleting the Books app and reinstalling it from the Apple Store. The Books app would then supersede the forScore app.
