A Grey Dot with white center appeared on screen. It appears to be a notification short cut. I removed the dot by going to settings - physical and motor- Touch-Assistive Touch.
other methods did not work. Will the Dot return?

Seems you accidentally activated Assistive Touch ?
If needed: Try going to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch, and turn that off.
