I need to use a floppy disk external drive

Hello,

I need anyhelp I can get. I have a floppy drive connected via USB (the type sold with the shell like Ibook circa 2000).[it's a TEAC FD -05PUB]

I can see the drive when i go on the drive utility program on my mac, but the screens sasy 'non initialised'.

I do have disk inside that I want to open.

What I am not getting here? what do I need to do?

Thank you for your help

So if I read this correctly, you have a 1.44MB TEAC FD-05 floppy drive connected by USB. When you insert a disk, the drive becomes active and you see it on the desktop and/or in Disk Utility, but you get a dialogue or some other indicator that the disk is not initialized and cannot be read? Is this correct?

It would seem to indicate the floppy disk you want to read is either not initialized (and has no data on it), or is in a format that macOS cannot read. Do you know where the disk came from and what ought to be on it? Do you have a blank floppy disk that you can use to confirm that the FD-05 is otherwise working correctly?
