Why can't I search the iTunes Store on the Music app using Mac?

I see this question in multiple threads with no answer. All the answers tell me how to do this on my IOS device (phone or iPad) which is not the question and so thats not the answer. I think I have purchase more than 1000 songs form Apple. Maybe 2000. They were all purchased from my MAC (not my iPhone, but my computer), so I know it used to work. Now it does not. The responses that say select the iTunes Store button on the left are fine, but the second you type something in search, the store gets deselected and your search happens on your own library. If this is no longer supported for some reason, the polite answer is "This is no longer supported".

After clicking in thesearh box on the left sidebar, click iTunes Store at the top right of the main window (not on the left as stated in your post). Also see the following if that didn't help.

In the Music app menu bar, choose Music > Settings or Preferences > General and insure Show iTunes Store is selected.

Then click in the search box at the top of the left sidebar and then click the iTunes Store option at the top right of the main window as shown in the example in Buy music from the iTunes Store on your Mac - Apple Support

If the 3 options don't appear at the top right of the main window after doing the above, 2 things to try:

1) If the View menu in the menu bar contains "Hide Playing Next" or "Hide Lyrics" then click that item so that it changes to "Show Playing Next" or "Show Lyrics."

2) If there is a very small “<” at the top left of the main window (to the right of the sidebar search box), click it one or more times until there is no “<” there.

Closing and reopening the Music app has also been reported to be needed in some cases.
