how to download from iCloud Drive

Hope someone knows enough about Apple Mac to help me in dire trouble.

When I attempted to turn off iCloud Drive, I got a warning that all my documents and desktop will not be available on my Mac. Worry!

After posting on this site the question how to restore docs and desktop - I was informed that if I turn off iCloud Drive, I can then easy "download from iCloud".

Sad to say you cannot do that.

On iCloud Drive site I see my documents and desktop, but the download icon is greyed out.

How can I get them back?

Hi Doug, you can locate your Home folder by opening the Finder app. From there, you should see a little house icon with your username next to it on the left side of the Finder window.

You can now view the folders on your computer.

To see your Documents and Desktop folder, they will be in the same location as the Home folder but below it on the left side.

Hint: This is what the Finder app looks like
