Unusual iCloud problem with loss in multiple apps

FYI: A weird event on 9/9/24 on my office mac: iCloud events in Calendar and all my icloud entries in Contacts disappeared on my MacStudio (Mac14,13). When I tried to take a screen shot, I received the message “Your screenshot can’t be saved   Screenshots are not allowed”.  Restarting Mac or shutting down and disconnecting AC power, didn’t help. If I logged onto iCloud in Safari, Calendar and Contacts were normal. Similar problem in Apple Mail for my iCloud account. In iCloud settings, I could not turn on 'Apps Using iCloud' for Contacts, iCloud Calendar, Reminders, and Safari; there was a warning for these: “This setting has been configured by a profile”

My MacStudio at home had the same problem. I waited a bit, and restarted a few times and suddenly the above was back to normal on my home MacStudio. I received several alerts that a new device was added to my account. My office MacStudio also recovered. Also, I had to reenable my iCloud email account including checking all my rules in Mail settings, as well as turning on Contacts/Calendar/Reminders in iCloud settings. Access to shared calendars were also disrupted.

I assume this may have had something to do with iCloud server of some sort, and wasted a fair amount of time.

Let me know if you know what happened

thanks
