sharing subfolder of already shared parent folder
How can I share a folder with one person and a subfolder with a different person?

I tried the straight forward approach with folder share and it only shared a zip file of the subfolder contents.
I then tried making an alias and moving it outside the parent folder, and then tried to share it. I was allowed to select collaborate but when sending to recipient an error was generated.
Suggestions?
