Pages "Start Dictation" comments.

I am typing this in Google Documents because I cannot do this same procedure on this Apple Community page on my iMac — can I? The reason I am writing is because I attempted to use “Start Dictation” (which is inexplicably listed under “Edit”)  in a Pages document. but Pages doesn't seem to recognize “new paragraph” or “new line.” Also, Pages just suddenly stops the dictation. I'll think that Pages is picking up what I'm saying but when I look back 30 seconds later, it has stopped randomly in the middle of the sentence now why would that be? I'm seeing that New York Times rated as one of the top dictation softwares? I don't understand why that is because it's not working for me, so the question is how can I improve my interaction with Pages?
