IOS 18 Apple Music Keeps Crashing

Since upgrading to IOS 18, Apple Music keeps crashing on both iPad and iPhone. I open the music app, start a song to play, it plays for about a minute then crashes.

Is Apple aware of this as it is happening to a lot of users who have upgraded to IOS 18? Tried all the obvious fixes, such as shut down iPad and iPhone and restart but no joy.

Apple needs to fix this A.S.A.P. particularly for Apple Music subscribers!

This is also happening to a friend of mine who has all his music on the iPad and iPhone, rather than streaming and it still crashes.

my apple music was working fine when i got the update until recently i would say a week? the song skips perfectly fine but when i wanna skip it, it sort of stays on the song but the app freezes for minute but keeps playing the song so when i exit the app, it has the song it previously was playing.

it also freezes on the control center when i wanna skip the song so i have to exit the app to restart it to work again.

Same here. Constant crashing on my iPad, iOS18. Sometimes the music keeps playing, but the controls are non functional and the UI doesn't update. Can't power down using the new power button in Control Center either. Very annoying. Not using any 3rd party music apps, just the Apple Music app. Songs aren't being streamed, they are in my library and downloaded to the device.

I contacted Apple support, and they advised me to reset all settings, which I did. Unfortunately, the issue still persists as you described. We're definitely losing our subscription money due to a problem we've never encountered before. I hope they release an update to fix this soon. I encourage everyone to reach out to Apple support and report any issues as they arise; this will help prioritize their fixing efforts.

As of 10/08, after the iOS 18.1 update, can confirm it is still an issue as well.

Tried all general “fixes”, restarting phone, closing out of music app and reopening, resetting settings, logging out of Apple Music and logging back in, etc.

Happens on either iPhone, iPad, MacBook for me. Happens regardless of whether I shuffle a playlist/artist/album or if I just manually select the album or song and let it play in order.

I deleted all of my downloads & then re-added them when the problem first presented itself after the IOS 18.0 & 18.01 update. It was not successful in correcting the issues. I am extremely disappointed & irritated. I hope they have a resolution with the IOS 18.02 update. We as customers pay too much money for Apple Music Subscription for it to be worthless, unreliable & useless. Apple, IPhone, IOS etc. have existed for far too long to have issues like we are experiencing.

Similar problem. My music collection is resident on my phone - I'm not listening via any streaming services. Apple Music crashes after a few moments and won't reopen until I restart the phone. Then rinse and repeat.

This is adding insult to injury, after all the woes of Sonos, which no longer plays my curated Apple Music playlists. I have my own library of music, but I can't play it anywhere. Time for me to go back to physical media. Where's my CD player?

Same here. I downloaded Vox free version and it plays all of my music and all of my playlists...without crashing and freezing up. Music is the main thing I use my iPad for. Airplay to my stereo throughout the house. VOX does it all AND it sounds better than Apple Music App. I now have Vox on my iPhone, Mac and two iPads. Tired of waiting for Apple to figure things out. Can I just ask...what is beta testing for if it can't catch things like this? Especially in an Apple native app.

Currently working with Apple Support and there is no official work around or from what I’m told is it even being looked at yet. I’ve been advised to delete the app and all of my downloaded music then redownload everything again to see if that works. She said to make sure to keep the subscription when deleting the app.

We shall see.
