Meross Garage Door Opener vs. HomeKit vs. CarPlay
I've been directed to this forum by the folks at Meross who feel that this problem is a bug in IOS/CarPlay and not their garage door opener.
I have installed a HomeKit compatible Meross garage door opener (GDO) that I am attempting to use with CarPlay, but either no button is visible in my vehicles display as I approach or leave the property, or when I attempt to ask Siri to open the garage door it responds with "You need to unlock your phone first, but you may not want to do that as it looks like you are driving" (paraphrasing slightly).
Thus far I have:
- Connected the garage door opened (MSG100HK) to HomeKit
- Set-up and older iPad Air 2 to act as a Home Hub (HomePod mini on order to replace the iPad)
- Set-up my residential location in Apple Maps so that it appears correctly in Home Kit (geofencing)
- I have disassociated and reassociated my phone with my vehicles CarPlay
- The door opens and closes successfully when using the native Meross App or the corresponding device in Home kit (on my phone)
- In Face ID and Passcode I have enabled Home Control and Accessories from the "Allow Access When Locked"
What am I missing to get this working with my CarPlay either via voice command or to get a corresponding icon shown on my vehicles display to allow me to open my garage door opener from this vehicle? Home Kit compatibility was the only reason for selecting this particular model of GDO.
