Hi.
with the introduction of this mew feature i can start video recording while my carplay music still playing, but when i view the recording there is no sound in the captured video!
i tried with bluetooth speaker and the video was fine with music in it.
my issue is only when i play music through apple music carplay.
anyone experiencing the same? And what is the solution?

what you have to do, if you want to record while connect to carplay and have sound in your videos. Instead of putting your camera app in the video option, you have to put it in the photo mode, and press and old the button and slide to the right. That will start the recording with sound!!! Try it for yourself

I found a fix (at least for the issue I’m having). If you go to settings —> camera —> record sound, make sure it’s in mono instead of stereo
Go to settings -> camera -> record sound -> mono
I just did this and it worked.
Happened to me too today. No audio in the video recording while connected to apple carplay. Had to disconnect apple carplay and audio is captured. Bug.

i upgraded my iphone 15 pro max to the 16 pro max yesterday and the video recording is fine with car play music. Not sure if this feature is only available in iphone 16 or there is a big in the 15 pro max
It’s a feature that you can record a video while playing music and you you can disable it from the camera settings on the iphone.
the issue is as you mentioned there is no sound being recorded when car play music is playing. I think this is a bug need to be fixed as it records the music normally if you connect your phone to bluetooth speaker.
This is absolutely a bug. I was trying to record a video of my truck making a sound so I could send it to my dealer and I got zero audio. I was connected to CarPlay, but I wasn’t even listening to music. I just had my radio on. It’s absolutely ridiculous that this is a thing. Makes zero sense. Apple always seems to have these little ridiculous bugs that they never address.

I didn't know there's a new feature related to this, but I noticed the same issue:
when trying to record video while connected via carplay, the resulting video has no audio at all.
If it's a feature, can we disable it somehow?

Same thing happened to me tonight. We went to a drive thru Christmas lights display where music played through the car radio. None of the audio recorded. Also, not sure if this is related, but when I tried to capture video through Snapchat on my phone, the car audio stopped. This has happened before if I get a text message, for example. It’s very frustrating.
Has anyone been able to recover the audio from these videos that didn’t record sound? You would think the raw data is somewhere. I caught a valuable moment with my daughter and i cannot repeat her reaction and her words 😔
I am also having the same issue. iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 18.1. No sound on video recordings made with CarPlay. It’s too bad, too, as I shot a unique moment that can’t be replicated.
I’m sure the raw data for the sound is there somewhere. I’d love it if someone found a way to extract it.

Literally same situation! Went to holiday drive in light show.. tried to get a cute video of my daughter looking at the lights and singing the Christmas music on the radio. Get home, play the video, no sound !
