i signed into a new device with my icloud and theres over a year's worth of messages missing

I had just recently signed into a new device with my icloud. I synced the messages in settings and all of the messages are now loaded into this device( or so it seems), but when I check, there's over a year's worth of messages that are missing. But all of the messages in the time before and after the missing messages have loaded. I am just confused and wondering if anyone knew a way for me to get them back?

Ive tried to turn off syncing messages in icloud and turning it back on already. It showed me a blue progress bar of the syncing process happening in the messages app. And i thought i figured it out because it took the longest time. But after it said that it was done, nothing changed.
