I noticed that after updating to Sequoia, AirDrop has disappeared from the Finder sidebar. If I try to add it back from the settings, it appears for a fraction of a second, then the checkbox deselects itself again. If I navigate to AirDrop from the Go menu, all appears normal and it works correctly so I am unsure why this is happening

Oh, and just one more thing I forgot to say: the only action I found to solve this temporarily, is to force the finder's restart. Then, I can be able to add the airdrop into finder's favorites.

Here's another issue which may be similar, or not. I have my fn button set to "show desktop" by setting it in the System Settings/Desktop & Displays/Short Cuts. Makes it easier to work on my MacBook Pro.
However, every time I reboot the MacBook Pro that setting disappears, and I have to reset it again.
Again not exactly the same as the AirDrop issue (which I have), but seems to be similar. Some settings just aren't holding in Sequoia.
The date today is Dec 21st 2024 and Apple still haven't bother to fix this problem.

From the Finder, choose the Apple Menu at the top left of the screen and choose Force Quit. Then from the Quit Applications Menu choose Relaunch the Finder. AirDrop will reappear checked in Finder Settings and will reappear in the Sidebar.
I'm new to this thread. I bought this Macbook a little over a week ago and noticed the problem with AirDrop disappearing from the Finder favorites sidebar. I looked it up and realized I'm not the only one. Is this still a relevant problem, or has it been resolved?
Based on testing if you turn off FileVault then the issue is resolved. Not sure what the correlation is but it appears to work. I reported this to Apple but not sure if it will get resolved by them.
Some suggested turning FileVault off will fix it.
I do not have FileVault on and it still doesn't work.
Interestingly I have assign "show desktop" to the Fn button.
However, if I have to reboot our MPB 16, that setting doesn't hold, and I have to reassign it each time I reboot.
Wonder if these two anomalies are related.
My AirDrop is also disappearing even after 15.4 update, but I saw that when I use the force quit method to bring it back, before I click to relaunch the Finder's I noticed that the icon is not right and actually shows the Google Chrome icon instead of the Finder. I don't know if they are related.
My M1 MBA had the issue then started to work. My M4 Mini has the issue. Both using 15.2 so not sure what the cause is. Send Apple feedback:

I had the exact same issue but for me once I rebooted it was OK.

See if you reduce your "favorites" down to 6, then force quit Finder, restart the computer, and then add Airdrop back. Does it still go away?
Force quit lets you add it back in but then disappears next time you boot the Mac. If you never turn your Mac off or need to reboot then no issue. Must be some bug.
Mine is permanently fixed since I restarted one while my iPhone was switched off.
