iOS 18 Autocorrect is Totally Unusable

OMG. Im having the same issue is I same. For the same of leaving this comment, I left all the autocorrect my I phone for so they know what Im talking about. Please for this and soon a a possible.

I’m experiencing the same thing. It is horrifically bad.

It’s driving me insane! The bilingual keyboards do not work. No matter if I use the “normal” or the “bilingual” keyboards, it’s incapable of recognising the language I’m typing. This wouldn’t be such a big deal if it didn’t automatically correct every single word to replace it with either the most random word or a word that doesn’t exist?? The autocorrect function is honestly terrible at the moment.

I’m having the same issue - nothing I am typing is working so I’ve had to use predictive text only and hope (it just tried changing that to home?) that after a few letters it catches on to what I am typing. Its driving me crazy.

Just upgraded to iOS 28 (wait, I mean 18, but honestly it might as well be 28 with how ancient it feels) and autocorrect has gone full meltdown mode. I typed “Completely agree” and somehow got “Compote aerie.” Like, is my phone trying to tell me I need more fruit preserves in my life?

I mean, seriously, autoclave is toreltn June – I X’s any even thoe annormalmessge and it’s totally unreadable it corrcsgd to shrugs to that’s doesn’t event exists… Wait, what did I just type? Pretty sure I just summoned a demon or ordered a pizza with extra shrugs.

It’s as if autocorrect has decided it’s not just correcting words—it’s rewriting entire sentences, Shakespeare-style. Why type “I’m on my way” when I can have “I’m on mayo”? I once typed “I’m hungry,” and autocorrect decided I meant to say “I’m Hungary.” Thanks, iOS, for the geography lesson. At this point, I’m expecting it to start correcting my grocery list to include “12 gallons of existential dread.”

I tried typing “meet me at the store” and autocorrect was like “no, no, what you really meant was ‘Meat me at the shore.’” Now I’m questioning if it’s trying to get me into some kind of barbecue cult on a beach.

And let’s not even talk about the typos in my texts that make me sound like a drunk philosopher. “Would you like to go out for dinner?” became “Would you light to gout for dinosaur?” It’s either a weird caveman chat or my phone’s suggesting prehistoric meal plans.

Can we just agree that autocorrect has given up trying to be useful and is now moonlighting as a surrealist poet? Picasso, but with words. “Keyboard? Nah, let’s go with keybored.”

Is anyone else having these ridiculous autocorrect failures? Or am I just destined to live in a world where “Have a nice day” translates to “Have a mice daze”?

Same! I had to manually go to settings>keyboards>auto correction OFF 🤦‍♀️I won, but at what cost.? Because now nothing I type incorrectly will fix but at the same time anything that I did type incorrectly would stay the same, resulting to me fixing it on my own. Honestly, whatever. Because i’d rather go back and re-do my own mistake then let apple change “Come to me” to “Coke to me”

(I actually typed “totally having the same problem”) but auto correct BUTCHERED IT. SHAME ON YOU APPLE.

Resetting the keyboard dictionary fixed it for me. Settings>General>Transfer or Reset iPhone>Reset>Reset Keyboard Dictionary.

All those symptoms suggest some inadvertent Text Replacement entries.

Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement >

Every time I type “of” it autocorrects to ”𝑜𝑓” in italics… can’t work out how to get this to stop!

this never happened before, only started happing since updating to iOS 18

I have the same problem which makes the phone practically unusable except for phone calls. I might as well have a dumb flip phone. Anyway, I have turned off autocorrect until Apple announces a fix.

Settings > General > Keyboard > Auto-Correction

No more auto-stupid afterwords.

Me too - just updated it to 18 and it’s crazy. I write in 2 languages on my mobile and usually that was never an issue and the iPhone understood when I wrote in German but now it is correcting literally every single German word to English after I updated my iPhone. It takes triple the amount of time
