Auto-Correction is changing my words incorrectly after iOS 18 update on iPhone

I've been an iPhone user for 15 years and I've never had issues with the autocorrect like I've had since upgrading to iOS 18. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's been completely debilitating. I've literally had to resort to dictation because typing a simple message can take me 10 minutes.

Every word I type ending with 's' gets autocorrected wrong. For instance, "jobs" gets changed to "job a." Literally EVERY SINGLE word ending with 's' gets appended with an 'a' for no reason.

I used to type contractions without the apostrophe because I could always count on iOS to add it for me. Now it just changes "whats" to "what a", "wheres" to "where a", "whens" to "when a", etc. And sometimes it's even worse where things like "didnt" somehow become "did my."

Words that aren't incorrect are changed to ones that are:

"our" to "out"

"come" to "coke"

"some" to "dime"

"guy" to "but"

"wise" to "word"

"quicker" to "quick we"

"stronger" to "step get"

And other total chaos:

"ask" to "as k"

"about" to "a out"

"these" to "the we"

"into" to "i to"

"hello" to "**** i"

"today" to "to day"

"maybe" to "may be"

"anyway" to "any way"

"called" to "call ed"

And these are only a handful of examples I've noticed in the last half hour or so.

PLEASE APPLE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FIX THIS!!!

OMG I could have written all these posts, it’s driving me bonkers. I’m also having trouble with the space bar, where a letrrsppearsoinjits space, rendering the wording completelyyunrrsfablesometimes is user error but it usually auto correct not correcting. It’s taking me forever to type messages now.

like the last later, I didn’t. Protective the incorrect productive texts to show has bad it reallly is. (Neither did I correct this, T this rate texting is going to be nigh on impossible 😞

At least yours gets autocorrected into actual words. Mine will often autocorrect into a non English word. I have to use the revert icon to back to the right word. How is it so bad now that it will take a correctly spelled word and turn into actual gibberish? Major flaw for a company like apple.

Can’t say Haagen Dazs, only Hagen with one A is allowed. Can’t talk about a handful of coins because everything is Pennie’s, it belongs to her! No pennies allowed! Had to fight it desperately about 16 times just there to get it to allow me to talk about the piece of currency. Don’t forget everything needs to be pluralized, everything has to have an r added on to change the word entirely (you isn’t allowed, only your!), and everything must be changed into a conjunction so your isn’t allowed to be your when you want it, it has to be you’re. All jokes aside it really baffles me how it loves to sabotage names. Like it genuinely thinks it knows how someone’s name is spelled better than they, the owner of the name, do. So bizarre since names are personal and essentially made up, so they’re allowed to be spelled in any manner of variation one likes. Like… what? I miss the simple days when the biggest autocorrect fail I had to deal with was the mildly annoying “ducking” situation lol. Not to mention apple’s greedy obsessive eagerness to capitalize commonplace words and phrases if they also double as the name of an Apple feature. Can’t talk about a show with a time machine in it without Apple trying to make the sentence bizarre and grammatically unsound. Heck I can’t even talk about Apple pie most of the time without that capital A just there. Keyboard also seems to get jumpy sometimes, when I’m like halfway through typing a word if I’m going a little fast. So you end up with the first three letters of a word, with some like “oo bcn m” random gibberish chopped in instead of the rest of the word. Or accidentally clicking a predictive text word instead of a letter in the top row. Granted that’s my own sloppiness but it’s just frustrating and I wish there were a way for it to detect that you’re typing fast and just want to finish the word yourself instead of slower hesitant typing where you might want to pick a suggestion to help you complete it. As a bonus since I have a 15 pro I’m also not being allowed to post this. The “post” button has been deemed the designated area of my screen that will not respond. If I scroll and tap something else that’s moved into the spot it’s totally fine! If I go to my home screen and click something else in that exact spot it’s fine! That area of screen can respond! It’s just that I’m not allowed to specifically press that one button that says post because my dictator phone says no.

Apple's recent software 'upgrades' have been generally bad. On my Mac it is now much more time consuming and difficult to delete all the junk email I get. I have no idea why they decided to make it hard to delete email!

Also the iPhone constantly inserts '.' in my text in places it makes no sense, autocorrect spells like a drunk 14 year old, Photos no longer let me sync albums with my Mac and see them on the phone, syncing my iPad require about 15 steps for each sync even if I haven't unplugged it in between, and ... just generally user unfriendly!
