I'm unable to do shareplay on apple music between my iPhone and my friends android devices

I've connected my phone to a Bluetooth speaker, had them scan the qr code, I've accepted them but it just circles on connecting and eventually comes up saying the shareplay has ended. It says the other users don't need an apple music subscription to join and select music, but even one that does has this same issue. I'm not sure whether this should go into music on ios or other devices sorry, I have an iPhone but my friends don't.
