No notification sounds after new iOS 18 update on my iPhone

This happens randomly. Sometimes the sound for a text will work and other times it won’t. I have to to turn my phone off and back on again for the sound notifications to work again. Then later, the sound will stop working again. I have done all the troubleshooting. And that still does nothing. Hopefully Apple is aware of the bug and will create a fix.

Things got a little better recently, some notifications worked. However, since the last iOS update to iOS 18.2.1, iOS once again does not send any notifications about new emails. Acoustic signals and vibration patterns do not work.

Deleting and reinstalling the app does not help. Removing all accounts, deleting the app, restarting the device and then reinstalling everything doesn't help either.

The user cannot repair this issue by themselves. It is imperative that the developers make improvements quickly. Trust in the app has already been severely damaged, and this is now spreading to trust in the operating system and development.

Is there any news about fixing this bug?

It is driving me crazy that the Mail app has stopped sending notifications. I miss emails every day that I need to respond to immediately to avoid keeping my partners and clients waiting for important decisions.

The bug appeared immediately after iOS 18 was installed and has still not been fixed in iOS 18.1.1.

Ok! I just got off the text Apple support. Somehow my phone was stuck on “do not disturb” focus, even though I’d never set that focus before, somehow my phone had selected it as the default focus. And because it’s not really clear how to turn them all off when I want them off, I created a focus called “regular” that allows all messages and notifications. Because you can’t delete “do not disturb” and for me that was the default focus.

I am also experiencing lack of notifications on my mail app. I have gone through all notification settings and they are set correctly. This has only happened since ios 18 update which is an important point to make when trying to find a solution. The question is always “what changed since it was last working”. That has been the IT Support and Developer approach since anything ever started breaking.

Can this be sorted or a viable solution provided?

Same situation here. It's extremely frustrating and keeps happening even with iOS 18.3

Apps affected: iMessage, Mail

When somebody sends you a text, you will not get sound, or even haptics (if you're in silent mode). You will only see a small "2 notifications" icon at the bottom of your screen.

For Mail, you get no notification that you received an email whatsoever.

Focus mode on or off doesn't matter.

All other apps like Gmail, Instagram etc show their notifications just fine.

I was hoping this would be fixed with iOS 18.3 but I am sad to report the issue is still there.

I think most users know about and make use of those settings. But it's not related to any setting. The bug started with the update to iOS 18, ongoing in iOS 18.1. Here I'll get no notification sound or vibration-patterns for new incoming e-mail. I checked all settings multiple times. Only a banner in the notification center comes up, but I can't hear or feel that in my pocket. As I was supporter for Pixel devices, I had options to escalate such bugs to the next level. Are you able to als do so?

When the trend starts after the update that Sir says the update changed a core value somewhere some how that was unintended. Since the problem did occur until after update and its impossible to go back to 17.x to verify the problem then it leave the ios as the culprit. I have tried several of the solutions in this thread none have worked do far. The only one left to try is to set up a focus that is daytime specific. I have the exact same issue on my ipad pro that is running the latest ios as well. Developers are lazy this day and age from game to OS systems its rush to market and we get to be the beta testing team as we report the bugs they attempt to fix it. If i could roll my ios back to 17.x i would in a heartbeat.

I've had spurts of NO notifications sounds, say for text and calls and it now been happening again. I work in Medicine and missed VITALLY IMPORTANT text and call notification sounds. I'm 100% sure it's not my settings etc. Apple, this is unacceptable. There also seems to be a significant increase of this PROBLEM. I've moved from android to Apple for reliability but this HUGE PROBLEM is causing me to want to switch back to Android. I think there very well may be a higher incidence of this problem when I'm wearing the apple watch. How can one complain and give feedback that Apple would actually pay attention to and do something about???!!! I can not tolerate this VERY significant unstable problem.
