Will I lose my iTunes library on iPod if I sync it to PC?

I have installed a new PC and followed instructions to move my iTunes library.

all went OK except the number of files transferred seemed low.

i appear not to have my tunes on my new PC.

my iPod classic has all of them.

what will happen if I sync my iPod.

will I lose those tunes that are only on the iPod?

Yes, you will.

Work out which songs are in the new library and which songs are missing. A likely scenario that we often encounter is that you only have purchases from the iTunes Store in the new library and that music from other sources is missing.

So is the missing music purchases from other sources apart from the iTunes Store, i.e.:

  • Amazon, Bandcamp artist sites etc.
  • copies from your CDs

Once we know what is missing, wewe can hopefully find them and add them to your new library. As a part of that, do you still have access to your old computer, or the hard drive that was in it? Alternatively, did you make a backup of your old PC that is reasonably up to date?
