I downloaded a 3rd party software instrument. what do I do to access it? where is it stored? How can I use the sounds

  1. Make sure you have downloaded the Audio-Unit (AU) version of the plugin. Logic doesn't load plugins in VST-format. The Audio-Unit versions have the suffix ".component".
  2. Most of the plugins come with an installer which do the work for you.
  3. When installing manually you need to move the plugin into this folder: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
  4. Some plugins require a restart of your computer, you have to reboot Logic in any case.
