iPhone 16 pro battery draining fast

It feels like the 16 pro drains battery like crazy. Mine has gone from 95% to 81% in 38 minutes of light use and some picture taking. Phone also gets really hot when using the camera!

Anyone else experiencing this?

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18

I did an experiment.

I charged my existing 14 Pro and a 16 pro (bought 2 week ago) and used them the exact same way, but they sit mostly unused for 36h. Here’s the result.

You can see the 16 Pro discharge going faster in the last 12h. Both have the same background app processing running (none). Not sure what’s going on on the 16 Pro. After 36h, the 14 Pro is at 85%, the 16 Pro at 58%.

I've been having the same problem for three months now, since I bought my iPhone 16 Pro.
I hate it; the battery drains in minutes, even without using the phone.
Did you get any technical support to resolve the issue?
I already want to return the phone.
This is the first time in 15 years of using an iPhone that something like this has happened to me.
I feel very disappointed

I got a new iPhone 16 Pro in December, as of yesterday, my phone now dies at 33%. I don’t have too many background apps running, only one of my apps uses a lot of power and I use it very rarely, but since it started dying at 33% I can detect a weird smell coming from my phone

Here is my update:

Over time, (after 1 month) my battery is a little bit better, like it can survive a day of light use, but some percentages drains without any reason.

Now Im more "worried" about the out of the box scratch on the back glass, the dust particle in the one mont old phone's camera, the poor fit quality of the camera button's frame, the earpiece’s deeply placed grill, that collect a LOT of dust.

Over all, im soooooo disappointed. Like, I spent 1350$ on that **** phone. Can’t i get quality??

Bdw, im from Hungary. This is not a country that like: “Oops, there is a random apple store.. Lucky mee!”

So I'm pretty helpless rn.

There’s nothing to address. Millions upon millions of iPhone 16 Pros aren’t having any issues. What steps have you taken to resolve the issue? You’ve taken your iPhone to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for diagnosis? Have you called Apple Support for remote diagnostics?

Found this thread too late. just upgraded iphone 13 to 16 Pro using AT&T promo.

I thought there was something wrong with my charger.

Iphone 13 would easily get through the day with low mode 20% hitting at dinner on the worst day.

Now this 16 pro cant make it to lunch before hitting the Red.

Cripple the phone with no AI, no background, no refresh, etc.... maybe I make it a whole day.

Might go swap this for a 16 plus.

i had a 13 and when it was new i could go all day and still have 70 percent. i've had that phone for almost 3 years and the battery degraded obviously. i just got the iphone 16 pro and the battery is literally no better than my iphone 13. makes no sense. apple please fix this. it is ridiculous.

Exact same problem here had a 3 year old iPhone 13 that would make it to the end of the day at 20%.
my new iPhone 16 Pro was at 20% just after lunch. Never making it to the end of the day.
Performed all 11 battery tricks and now much better. 80% at lunch and 35% end of day.
Shouldn’t have to cripple the phone just to make it work as advertise, but it’s functional

Do you mind sharing these “tricks”?

Thank you.
