I want to know that is finder will run even in shutdown stat? I monitored through screen timer it show the time for finder even in shutdown. It's runtime is 18hrs and my work hrs is 6hr.

No solutions as of now I guess, still getting 9-10+ hours of screen time
Now screen time is not detecting Finder, it detects All usage as 24hours even the Mac is in shutdown for whole day. Anyone facing the same.
To tack onto this, it's happening to me as well. I turned my Macbook off last night and turned it on in the morning but Finder shows a time of 7 hours active, when it was shut down and unplugged. So the question is valid. Does the issue matter? I don't know but it's bloody annoying. At the least I'm worried that the Mac isn't shutting down fully.
In my case that was the issue.
I know how to shutdown and what will happen when the system is on and off. If anyone know the solutions please answer. Don't add unwanted messages for getting points.
Today I noticed that the finder is not running in sleep mode. I turn on the Mac last day and I forgot to shutdown. Now I noticed the screen time status and uptime. In that finder screen time is 9s and the uptime is 22 hours, 44 minutes. Software bug from company side.
I don't know how to get solution and whom to ask. If anyone knows please answer.
Hey, I also have been facing the same issue. I too have the Macbook Pro M3 Pro, and this has happened after the update to Sequoia. I tried what @D.I. Johnson said, booting into safe mode. I did this yesterday night but there is no change, and for @Lawrence Finch I shutdown my mac most of the times.
Closing the lid on the laptop does not shut it down.
The proper shut down for the MacBook Pro is to click the Apple menu () > Shut Down...
You can check the "Time since boot:" of your Mac by opening the Terminal app and typing uptime followed by the enter key.

Finder was running for 18 hours 32 minutes. It looks like you started the computer around 00:30 and shut down the phone around 20:10, a total time of about 18 hours 40 minutes (given the limited precision of the display). Thus, Finder was running as long as the Mac was powered on. So what is your question?
I'm not sure where my comment went (or if I made a mistake in posting it). There is clearly an issue where the Finder "appears" to be running when shut down. In App and Website activity, the time for the 24 hour span of the day, not "the previous 24 hours". I have a terminal window showing that the system was up only for a few minutes. Whatever this is isn't clearly functioning as intended if it's skewing usage data.
When you shut it down watch the screen. If a screen, including backlight, goes off without displaying any messages it is shut down. It will also usually make a small click when it goes off. Closing the cover does not shut it down; only choosing Shut Down from the Menu and waiting before closing the cover will shut it down.
No one in this thread has provided any evidence that Finder is running when the Mac is powered off. None of the screenshots show that, and, if it is truly powered off, it would be impossible for Finder to be running. Finder will always be running when a Mac is powered on or even on standby; it would not be possible for any app to access any content if it wasn’t, and it would not be possible to wake from standby if it wasn’t.
I will now leave this thread, as none of the posts make any sense at all.
As has been pointed out above, when your computer is properly shut down nothing will be running.
If Screen Time is showing that Finder has been running for 18 hours, then one might assume that Screen Time is misreporting the Finder uptime, or that the computer is not being properly shut down.
Regardless of which is accurate, it really does not matter one way or the other what Screen Time reports. This is simply a way to monitor what apps are running and for how long. It has no effect on the useful life of the machine. The perceived discrepancy of actual and reported runtime is odd, but I wouldn't put much weight in this. Just know that any time the Mac is running, so is Finder. It is thus for all Mac computers.
Do you have more than one Mac in your home?
I ask because there is a setting in Screen Time setup that allows for the reporting of combined application times across more than one device. Look for "Share across devices" on the Screen Time setting panel.
The fallacy is that you can’t quit Finder. Even if you force-quit it Finder relaunches immediately. As I (and others) have said, if Finder is running you haven’t actually shut down the Mac completely. That’s the simple (and correct) answer.
