Apple Music crashing after iMac Sequoia OS 15 update

Hi All,

I installed the Sequoia OS 15 update on my M3 iMac, and now Apple Music crashes after about 15 minutes of use, when I try to drag a song into another playlist. Is this a known bug, and if so, when is the new update coming out to fix it?

Thanks,

Steven

I updated the software OS hoping it would fix the problem. Now instead of crashing instantly when dragging a song to another playlist window, now it crashes when moving a song in a single playlist as well! Good job apple!

I updated to 15.1.1 and it appears that my Apple Music problems on my iMac are gone. Yay! Unfortunately, I keep getting the error that I have too many programs open, and I must close things down. I told the Apple Senior Advisor, when he replaced my lemon iMac 2020 after three years with this computer, that 8 Gb of ram wasn't going to do it with me being and Adobe AI and Photoshop user, but he said it would be fine. If I could upgrade the memory, it would, but I'm stuck. Also, after every time I am forced to restart, my finder window previews settings default back to the icons. As long as I am belly aching, I hate the apple Magic Keyboard. I replaced it with a $20 gaming keyboard with large keys, and it works much better with my art programs. Also the Magic Mouse jumps all over the screen sometimes when I accidentally move my finger a millimeter sideways. I have a wired staples mouse to fix that problem. Now I can get some work done! And finally do my Christmas playlists in Apple Music.

I use Affinity Photo, Design and Publisher, but these programs are not running at the time I attempt to use the Music app and I also have 64GB of Ram. Upgrading to 15.1.1 has not fixed my issue with my Music app. Hopefully, Apple will come up with a fix for me before Christmas or I'll have to use alternative methods to play my Christmas playlists. : (

I almost exclusively use recordings that I have made. And I experienced the same thing you do. Some songs, crash music, and some songs don’t. Some songs can’t be found. There was one upgrade when this problem disappeared, and I could move all the songs and the songs I hadn’t been able to find were suddenly there again. I have no idea if it’s an indexing problem – that’s way above my pay grade!

I had This problem when I updated to Sequoia on my 2019 MacBook Pro. I got a new 2024 MacBook Pro and it’s having the same problem so I assume it’s not a hardware problem. I also got that same message that it was a kernel problem. But I think it’s something going on with the software.

My Apple Music is usable again, without crashes, but I am still running 15.1.1. I'm afraid to update! Unfortunately, I have been having song art glitches. If I try to delete the existing art, it won't highlight and give me the option. I found that if I click it "softly," that it will let me select. If I click "firmly" it won't. I don't know if that makes sense. Then sometimes it behaves normally. My 4 pane art preview at the top of my list sometimes shows up as just red too. On my phone it shows up correctly sometimes, and sometimes not. Very frustrating bug!
