"Music" sound output levels too low compared with Safari output (iMac)

(2016 iMac operating on Monterey 12.7.6 with Music app)

Any audio enthusiasts notice this problem? I connect the iMac to a gen 2 Apple TV ,which has optical audio out --> to a cheap DA converter --> RCA cables to old school receiver AUX input. Works great with my iPhone music. However, not on iMac's "Music". Sound output levels are way too low for Music compared with Safari/ sound output, for when example listening to YouTube or Amazon Prime etc. Noticeable on both iMac's internal speakers and when connected to appleTV for external speakers. Music's "sound check" feature is off, it's EQ is not activated, and the iMac's volume output is maximized. It's kind of annoying. Am I missing something? Any other output adjustments for iMac / Music?
