No audio output

2024 Apple M3 Max running Sonoma 14.1. Audio from QLab and also Apple Music stops outputting after a random amount of time when using an external USB sound card. I have tried multiple external cards / USB devices and the same problem persists. I have never not been able to trust my Mac / Qlab combo before - it's a major concern.
