Trying to Create then Print a Recovery Key for iCloud - Just Locks up the computer

If I create a recovery key and then try to print it, the settings locks up and freezes. I have no idea if the key was created or not. I did write it down but how do I know if it took or not. The only solution, apparently, is to NOT print the key and just write it down but that seems like a problem as I could make a typo. Anyone find a solution for this?
