Where is the GIFT button?

My brother is an invalid living in a full-time care facility in a different/distant province. i gift him a book of his choice weekly through the Apple books app. But ever since the latest iOS and Mac updates, the gift option is gone. I've tried my iPad, my iPhone and my Mac. No gift options for any books he wants exist. Before anyone asks: I know how to gift a book. There is no gift icon like there used to be. It isn't hidden under the three dots. Long press on the "get" button doesn't provide options. What the heck?
