I do not have a MAC so I am using numbers on the web thru my icloud. It works pretty well, but I do not see the option to freeze a row or column when I hover over the little drop down arrow.
In Numbers you can set up to 5 Header Rows, 5 Header Columns, and 5 Footer Rows and freeze them.
In the iCloud version you will see the option in the Headers & Footer section under the Table tab in the panel at the right.
