Hide my email won’t let me change forward to address & doesn’t forward email

I can’t change the address that hide my email forwards to. It won’t forward to my Gmail address at all. When I go to settings>icloud>hide my email I find the email I want to change the forwarding address in and tap on the address but nothing happens. How do I change that email since it won’t forward to the address I originally entered?
