Captive Portal - Marriott Wifi - Apple TV

I have found a fix that works at Hilton. If you click on the “i” in a circle next to the Wi-Fi name and turn off the Private Wi-Fi Address then it works. I also have Auto Join and Auto Login switched off but not sure if that makes a difference. Not ideal as this is lower security but does seem to fix the issue as a workaround. Once connected you can turn it back on anyway. Hopefully Apple will fix it soon. Hope it works for you too.

I’m having the same issue at a Hilton. I’ve stayed here a lot of times and never had any issues until the recent upgrade. My iPhone and iPad connect but the Apple TV won’t. I’ve now totally reset it but can’t set it back up without WiFi. So it’s broken until I get home.

This is a fairly common problem as Marriott will sometimes lock down their network preventing access. You will need to speak to Marriott to see if they can assist.

I had both those errors but by lowering the security (see above) temporarily it fixed it.

You don't understand, it is not an Apple issue. The issue is caused by the security some of the major hotel chains (Hilton, Marriott etc..) put on some of the properties. The elegant work around is to carry your own router (small portable routers) so you can setup your own network inside your hotel room and then connect to that network rather than the hotels.

Yes that is an option but usually expensive and unnecessary unless you want more security. If my solution doesn’t work for you then just buy a router. I do understand as I stay in Hilton’s for about 100 nights per year and also sometimes other hotels including Marriot.

I am having same problem at Marriott. Either a secure connection error to the captive/login portal page or the server stopped responding.
