How can I stop Apple Music from opening automatically?

I have seen most of the threads here have been locked that talk about the greedy Apple decision to force Apple Music to stay on our hardware. Every time I hit play or pause on any of my headphones, Bluetooth speakers etc... Apple Music pops up. I ditched it for Spotify a long time ago. You used to be able to take it off your hardware but you cannot delete nor control it now. There is nowhere to tell your OS to use Spotify instead. It would be like if you could not set a default browser. So 4-5 times a day Apple Music pops up. Apparently there is some way to disable this malware with the terminal, if anyone has been able to do this PLEASE let me know
