Safari - Mouse pointer clears URL when hovering over suggestions

First of all, I'm using macOS Sequoia 15.0.1.

I think (but I'm not sure) this is an issue that started with Safari in macOS Sonoma.

My problem is that when I write a URL, Safari suggests a lot of things and auto completes one of the suggestions. Previously I could modify that URL if I wanted a slightly different address. I can still do that, but my problem is that if my mouse pointer as much as slightly touches one of the other suggestions, then the whole URL is cleared. Is there a way to stop Safari from clearing the URL when my mouse hovers over the suggestions?
