When I open my computer a notice comes on screen saying “ verifying TWDDriveUtilityHelper” and then it shows a line while indicating the verification. This takes time before I can use the computer. How can I delete this process?

That is something that was installed when you set up the external drive. Normally, Macs do not need the often-troublesome software that external drive makers like to foist on drive purchasers.
Either chat up WD support, or see if there is a WD folder on your computer. It may have an uninstaller that will completely remove the unneeded files.
