"Sorry, there was a problem with Apple Music." (HomePod Mini)

Well, I am actually trying to reply to Sorry, there was a problem with Apple Mus… - Apple Community

, but Apple is prompting me to create a new question/ thread.. so here goes:

I have a HomePod Mini that we purchased last December and it's now October, so it's nearly a year old. We also have an original HomePod (in a different house), and have been using HomePods for about 4-5 years with few issues.

In this house, the HomePod mini is paired with a Belkin SOUNDFORM CONNECT, which allows the music retrieved on the HomePod mini to be broadcast (via AirPlay 2/ WiFi) to a late-1990s era Onkyo Amplifier, and so this allows us to (actually) use the whole-house stereo system (again) with inputs rather than merely the FM radio in the Onkyo. But I digress..

This morning, I asked Siri to play Gerry Mulligan. It said "Gerry Mulligan Now Playing," and then paused for a bit and said "Sorry, there is a problem with Apple Music." This is the FIRST TIME this has happened in my experience of using HomePods for 4-5 years, and my first thought was maybe there was a problem with payment for the service. When that turned out to not be the issue but I still wasn't getting any music from the HomePod (on the phone, it said "Loading"), I thought "I just want some music, let me play SwingFM (Hot Club du Lyons) via TuneIn because you can AirCast on TuneIn." I knew this was possible, but it was the first time I had done it. I got SwingFM playing on my phone on TuneIn, and was able to Aircast to the HomePod, but the Onkyo Amp, although selected via the HomeApp on the phone, was silent.

Now, I've had previous experience with the Belkin SOUNDFORM not playing audio, if you change the audio source. So, I tried to re-set and reinstall the Soundform. But the HomeApp timed out, trying to install the Belkin Soundform. It occurred to me that maybe the issue was that AirCast was still playing music to the HomePod. Just too much going on, too many types of Multicast perhaps going on here, on my WiFi. So, I backed out of the Soundform install process and shut the TuneIn app, which stopped the music on the HomePod. I also turned off the Onkyo Amp. Then, I went through the install process for the Belkin Soundform again, and .. just for the heck of it, I asked Siri to play Gerry Mulligan.. and.. it worked!

Hit the power button on the Onkyo Amp and tah dah - great jazz all throughout the house on those excellent speakers that were installed like 30 years ago, which I think also sound so excellent because they are installed in walls.. and the sound resonates so deeply as a result.

I don't know whether I'm providing you all with a solution or not, but I did NOT restart my router or the WiFi extender that the HomePod and the Belkin Soundform Connect happen to be on, I did not check my voice recognition settings in an app on my phone controlling the HomePod, or any of the other possible solutions that have been previously published. All I did was AirCast to the HomePod Mini from a different audio collection source.

Best of luck to all (and let me express my annoyance with Apple for not leaving threads open for very long. As a specialist in Information Management, to my way of thinking, that thwarts the user experience! :-)
