Restoring storage on an Apple MacBook Air Laptop

I use a Macbook air 2020 model apple laptop, currently I am signed in with a personal Apple ID account but since I use it for work it has an admin account active. Unfortunately our IT tech guys forgot the admin password and can’t login to reset to factory settings because it has apparently run out of the 256gb internal storage. So I can’t load or download files. How can I restore storage without admin permission and without affecting anything like I am afraid it might completely lock up? Any help?
